As a consultant in the Stamford office, Tom Wasson is a member of the firm's Technology, Communications & Media Practice and is founder and co-leader of the firm's Information Officer Practice. Tom joined Spencer Stuart in 1984 and has primarily focused on the computer products and services industry to include domestic and international assignments for chief executive officers, presidents and chief operating officers, chief financial officers, chief information officers and a variety of other line and staff management positions. Tom has also served in a global account management capacity for several of Spencer Stuart’s largest clients.
Since establishing the Information Technology Practice in 1987, Tom has conducted over 100 IT searches which have included nearly 50 chief information officers. Other IT assignments have resulted in the placement of leaders to manage applications development, systems operations, telecommunications and systems consulting. Tom has also led in excess of fifty searches in professional services and outsourcing (on and offshore).
Tom is a graduate of the University of Virginia. Prior to entering executive search, he was director of marketing for a value-added reseller and software development firm. Previously, Tom was a general manager with Simplex Time Recorder, and between 1965 and 1982, he held several sales and field management positions with Xerox Corporation.
