With 15 years of executive search consulting experience, John Wood has an extensive track record of recruiting chief executive officers and board directors for a broad range of international clients. Based in New York, he is a member of the firm’s Board Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Private Equity practices.
John has conducted more than 70 CEO search assignments, including those for the current CEOs at Campbell Soup, TXU, Clorox, Liz Claiborne, Hertz and International Flavors & Fragrances. He has developed a particular focus on conducting CEO searches for private equity clients and manages the firm’s relationship with one of the world’s largest and most influential private equity firms.
John is experienced in advising boards and CEOs on CEO succession planning and has been deeply involved in developing the firm’s succession planning and executive assessment offerings. He is a regular commentator in the media on succession planning and related leadership development topics.
John joined Spencer Stuart in 1998 after five years with another leading international executive search firm. While there, John headed the North American consumer practice group. Earlier in his career, he held senior management positions at Grey Advertising, now the Grey Group, and Foote, Cone & Belding.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism and an M.B.A. from the University of Oregon.
