Tom Yu brings to Spencer Stuart more than 20 years’ experience in general management, technology and operations leadership within the consumer, industrial and OEM sectors. Based in Shanghai, he leads the firm’s Industrial Practice in the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to joining the firm, Tom served as chairman and general manager for Maytag Asia, where he was responsible for overall business management, new business development, OEM supplier management and center of excellence establishment. He also served as vice president of R&D, engineering, finishing goods sourcing and Asian business development for Maytag floorcare business in the U.S. Prior to joining Maytag in 2000, Tom spent 15 years at General Electric, serving in several research, engineering, technology and operation leadership roles with an increasing scope of responsibility.
Tom earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester and an M.B.A. from Cleveland State University. He previously served on advisory boards for the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC), Appliance Magazine in the U.S., and the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Akron.
