Thomas T. Daniels is based in New York and is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Financial Officer, Financial Services, Private Equity, Board Services and Diversity practices. He has been involved in senior-level assignments for clients that include large multinationals, midcap, emerging growth, private equity and alternative asset management companies as well as organizations such as the Federal Reserve, International Accounting Standards Board and FINRA. His intellectual capital contributions include three Global 50 pieces: Perspectives of Leading Audit Committee Chairs, Perspectives of Emerging Leaders in Finance and Lessons From and Advice For Today’s CFO. He has won the Lou Rieger Quality Award for the New York office, been on the firm’s Client Committee, and is a member of the Spencer Stuart Audit and Risk Oversight Committee.
Tom brings more than 20 years of banking and financial services experience to Spencer Stuart, working in New York and Chicago previously for J.P. Morgan Chase and various predecessor firms. He was a managing director with client coverage responsibilities for global consumer product, diversified industrial and emerging technology companies, working on transactions that included mergers, acquisitions and capital-raising assignments. He also served as the senior banker responsible for investment banking recruiting. Prior to banking, Tom worked for the Intergovernmental Committee for Migration in Singapore and Indonesia, where he aided in the resettlement of Vietnamese refugees, and for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. as a legislative assistant and congressional page.
A graduate of Dartmouth College with a B.A. with highest distinction in Asian Studies, Tom also has an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and attended Beijing Normal University in the People’s Republic of China. He served on the Dartmouth Alumni Council where he was a member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Nominating and Alumni Trustee Search Committee. He currently chairs the college’s Committee on Trustees. He is also on the board of directors of the Association of Executive Search Consultants and vice chair of the Council of Americas.
