Anne Austin is a consultant in Spencer Stuart's Industrial, Technology, Communications & Media and Financial Services practices. Anne also co-leads the firm’s Human Resources Practice in the Asia Pacific region.
Before joining Spencer Stuart in Melbourne in 2004, Anne was employed by iFormation Group in New York, where she headed its organization development and recruiting team globally. iFormation was a private equity business owned by Goldman Sachs, General Atlantic Partners and The Boston Consulting Group which focused on building new technology-oriented businesses.
Anne started her career in executive search as a vice president with Boyden's financial service practice in New York, where she specialized in recruiting senior investment bankers for positions in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets for bulge, major and foreign investment banks. She moved on to another international search firm's technology practice and specialized in helping early-stage companies recruit key members of their senior management teams, including CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, COOs and senior business development and marketing professionals, for venture capital/private equity clients.
Before going to the U.S. in 1996, Anne headed a management consulting business in Australia offering strategic advice to CEOs and boards managing change. She was CEO of the Multifunction Polis Joint Secretariat, a joint venture of Australian and Japanese public and private sector interests investigating a major economic development proposal. Earlier in her career Anne was heavily involved in public sector transformation within Australian State governments.
Anne earned an undergraduate degree in environmental science and post-graduate management degree from Australian universities. In 1992, she was a member of the Australian delegation to the Duke of Edinburgh's Study Conference in Oxford, England. In addition to her familiarity with the Australian and U.S. markets, Anne has worked with clients and/or associates in the U.K., Europe and Japan.
