Catherine Nathan, based in New York, is a lawyer and a member and former co-leader of the firm's Legal Search Practice. Since entering search in 1988, Catherine has developed a successful retained legal search practice recruiting general counsel, senior in-house lawyers and partners for major corporations, financial institutions and law firms.
Catherine has built a national reputation by leading general counsel searches in diverse industries for many of the nation’s most important corporations including AIG, Amgen, AOL, Bank of New York, Baxter International, Bechtel, BMC Software, Boeing, Gillette, GlaxoSmithKline, Harley-Davidson, Hewlett-Packard, H&R Block, ITT, JC Penney, KB Home, Las Vegas Sands, Mars, MCI, McKesson, Medtronic, Pfizer, Pitney Bowes, Procter & Gamble, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Tyco, and UnitedHealth Group.
Her law firm work includes retained searches for Arnold & Porter; Cravath, Swaine & Moore; Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison; Shearman & Sterling; Latham & Watkins; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; Chadbourne & Parke; Clifford Chance Rogers & Wells; and Baker Botts.
For six years after law school, Catherine practiced law with two Wall Street law firms, first as a corporate and litigation associate with Chadbourne & Parke, then as a senior litigation associate with Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler, where she earned trial experience working as the lead associate on major Johnson & Johnson litigation.
Catherine earned her law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, and her undergraduate degree as an honors major in Russian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
