With 11 years of CFO recruiting experience, Joel von Ranson leads Spencer Stuart's Financial Officer Practice in North America. He focuses on chief financial officer and chief operating officer assignments for a broad range of financial services, manufacturing, media, healthcare and consumer products companies. Recently, Joel has conducted searches for the CFOs of Lexmark International, AutoNation and Tyco Electronics. In addition to CFOs, he has led searches for treasurers, controllers and other financial executives at both new ventures and large global corporations.
Joel joined Spencer Stuart in 2000 after working in senior roles at Time Warner and Condé Nast. During that time, he served as business manager of The New Yorker magazine. Joel earned his bachelor of arts degree with honors from George Washington University and a master of business administration in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He has co-authored several articles on finance topics, including Perspectives of Leading Audit Committee Chairs. Joel is a member of the Museum of Modern Art’s Contemporary Arts Council.
