Rob joined Spencer Stuart in 1999. His executive search experience has focussed predominantly on the mining and process and consumer goods and financial sectors and has involved assisting clients in hiring chief executive officers, chairmen, non-executive directors and senior management. Rob previously managed Spencer Stuart's South African office for five years.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Rob was a board member of a South African services company with international interests. He also worked for one of the country’s largest banks, where he was involved in development finance and cross-border investments. He began his career with the South African diplomatic corps and served as a career diplomat in Argentina and Spain.
Rob is well-versed in leading teams. He was selected as an exchange student and spent a year in the USA in the 1970’s and was the men's tennis captain and a first-team basketball player at the University of Cape Town. While in the South African diplomatic corps he was elected the Chairman of the Junior Diplomatic Association. Rob has played competitive tennis and squash, representative cricket at international level and is now a golfer. He studied law and politics at the University of Cape Town and speaks English, Spanish and Afrikaans.
