Terry brings to Spencer Stuart extensive general management, sales, marketing and operations experience in a variety of high technology industries, including telecom, computing and electronics. He is a core member of the firm’s Technology, Communications & Media Practice, where he specializes in the telecom, software, computing and semiconductor sectors. Terry focuses on the recruitment of CEOs, COOs, CFOs, group and divisional general managers, and other senior functional executives.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Terry was senior vice president of Sensormatic Electronics Corporation and president of its worldwide commercial/industrial division. He led this division from a startup in 1991 to over $300 million in revenues within six years. Prior to Sensormatic, Terry was president and chief executive officer of AmeriSystems, a telecommunications service provider headquartered in Dallas.
Terry’s career began at IBM, where he earned a rapid succession of promotions in a variety of sales and marketing assignments, becoming one of the youngest branch managers in the IBM system. Following nearly 10 years with IBM, he held executive positions at United Telecommunications (now Sprint Corp.) and ITT Corporation.
Terry graduated from Wagner College, where he earned a B.S. degree in economics and business administration. He has chaired and served on numerous technology industry-related associations and organizations. Terry has a leadership roles in the firm’s Communications Specialty Practice. He is also a member of the advisory board of the University of Texas—Dallas School of Management.
